Counseling:
As a school teacher, I have counseled with a multitude of parents to help children and entire families. In praying about this website, and knowing that counseling is so much more than stating a problem and declaring a quick-fix solution, I am not providing solutions on this site. You see, in counseling, there will be many sides of the situation to explore to get an understanding of what needs to be done. Yes, I know there are many blogs and people willing to give you their opinions, but where we really need to start is the Bible. Therefore, I am providing many scriptures that will help you understand what the Bible says about a variety of parenting topics. In your reading, you may find additional scriptures, but these scriptures are meant to give you some insight into what God says. Scriptures are not listed in order of importance.
First things first: Pray and ask God to reveal the scriptures to you. Ask Him to give you discernment and how to apply His Word to your life.
How to textmark your Bible so you can find important information later.
1. Key words: Write the topic next to scripture. (i.e. forgiveness, healing, salvation)
2. Add to the concordance. When you find a scripture you know that you will want to revisit, use the concordance topic or add your own topic. Then identify the scripture chapter and verse. There are so many important scriptures that speak to my heart, but are not listed in the concordance.
3. Write down those revelations. When God reveals something to you, write it down next to that scripture in the Bible. This way, when you revisit that same scripture, you will not start from square one, but will start with that precious revelation and be ready for more of God's Word. Your learning will grow exponentially and so will your understanding of God's love and plan for you.

What else do you need to know? Take God’s Word seriously. His ways are so much higher than our ways. Pursue God and His will for your life, and He will restore your family. Tell your pastor about our ministry. Then when your church invites me to come and speak, I will share the Word, testimony and revelations God has given me about parenting to further equip, support and encourage you.

Wisdom: I recommend a daily dose of Proverbs in addition to your daily Bible reading. Not only will you gain amazing insights to help you establish and maintain wise living, you will also learn to differentiate between righteous and wicked living. In many places you will read that those who do not follow God’s Word will experience death. You may argue that you or people you know have done these exact same things and did not die. There are many types of death beyond physical death. Spiritual and emotional death can be far worse than physical death. For the Christian, physical death means to go to our heavenly home to be with God. To die spiritually or emotionally causes the individual to either plunge head-first into a deep abyss or to slide down a slippery slope which eventually overtakes the person with hopelessness and great sorrow. The good news is that through Jesus Christ, there is hope, forgiveness and restoration when we return to Him and follow Him as our Savior and Lord.
Forgiveness: I start with forgiveness, because as you read God’s Word, you will recognize areas where you have not done things God’s way. When God gives these revelations, ask Him to forgive you and to help you change. You will need to forgive yourself, your children, and even your parents. You will also need to forgive others. (If you are not saved, go to my webpage – Got Jesus? You can be reconciled with God – You can be saved today. ) The following scriptures are about your daily walk with God – His forgiveness of you and your forgiveness of people.
Matthew 6:14 – 15 Note: This scripture follows the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
Matthew 7:1 Luke 17:4 Romans 8:1
2 Corinthians 7:10 Psalms 103:11-12 Proverbs 24:29
Proverbs 25:21-22 Ephesians 4:30-32 Amp.
Foolish Behavior: These days, the constant need for entertainment, joking about everything, not taking anything seriously, and trying to keep everyone happy has caused serious problems in families throughout our nation. It is time we take the Bible seriously, as if our very lives depend upon knowing and pleasing God (And, they do.). When our attitude becomes serious, we will see positive change in our families and in our nation.

Proverbs 19:1, 3, 13 Proverbs 21:20 Proverbs 22:15
Proverbs 26:1-12 Proverbs 29:9, 20
Discipline and Correction: With so many “experts” on this topic, many have bypassed God’s Word. Without discipline and correction, both children and adults get entangled in sin that separates them from God. Discipline and correction are meant to help return us to right living, living that is pleasing to God.

Proverbs 23:13-16 Proverbs 28:23 Proverbs 29:15, 17, 19
Self-Control: Some say that self-control is impossible. With God, all things are possible. Self-control is one of the basic “fruits of the Spirit.” God expects us, adults and children, to have and use self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23 Psalms 55:19 Proverbs 16:32; 18:13; 19:16
Proverbs 21:5 Proverbs 25:28 Proverbs 29:11, 20
Romans 12:1-2
Leaning, Instruction and a Teachable Spirit: God expects us to learn and grow. In order to do this, we must have a teachable spirit. Whether your children attend public, private, or home school, God has called parents, teachers and pastors to work together to help this generation grow up to love and serve Him.

Mark 4:24 Amp.
Your Mind, Your Memory: While we are on the topic of learning, don’t give in to the current educational philosophies that say memorizing does not create learning. Multiplication tables, spelling words, historical facts are just a few examples. Learning is more than being able to problem solve, it is having a basic foundation of knowledge from which we can problem solve. Memorize. Teach your children to memorize. Especially, memorize the scriptures and discuss how they relate to your lives. Memorize the books of the Bible so that you and your children will feel at comfortable when looking for scriptures. Memorize hymns, choruses, Christian songs that are full of God's Word. By memorizing scriptures and songs, when you find yourself in times of trouble or sorrow, you can easily access those treasures which will comfort and encourage you to press on in God.
(PS. The best solutions for problems are still found by praying and asking God for His answers/solutions.)

Self-Esteem or Confidence in God: I am going to break this topic into two sections. The Bible calls self-esteem pride.

Confidence in God : Christianity is based on faith and trust in God. God has given us Jesus Christ, the Living Word, and the scriptures, the written Word to help us develop a relationship with Him. The Bible is our oldest history book. The priests/scribes meticulously copied the texts to ensure that no mistakes were made. If a mistake was made, the page was discarded and begun again. You can trust God’s Word. He is faithful to perform His Word. Choose confidence in God over self-esteem. You will win every time.

Excuses: God has not called us to make excuses for our behavior, but to repent. To repent means to be truly sorry, ask God for forgiveness and change.
Proverbs 17:15 Proverbs 20:11 Proverbs 23:24
Matthew 3:8 Amp.
Perversity – Heart, Mind, Mouth: Although television can have good uses, the constant desensitizing of America has caused many to think that perversity is a part of normal life. Perversity is not a part of normal life for Christians. Perverse thoughts and speech have drawn many in to sinful lifestyles and verbal abuse of others. It is not just cultural. It is sin.

Bullies – Scorners, Scoffers, Mockers: Many would like to excuse people who bully others by saying that they have low self-esteem. (See above scriptures on excuses.) Bullying is sin. The bully needs to repent. Repent means to be truly sorry, ask God and the victim of the bullying for forgiveness and change. God will help you change as you submit to Him.

Long Life: Keep in mind that there are many kinds of death – physical, spiritual and emotional. Many parents do not teach or expect respectful behavior from their children. Respectful behavior is learned by teaching and reinforced by example. Make sure your example leads your children in paths of righteousness.
Exodus 20:12 Proverbs 3:1-2 Proverbs 4:1-13
Proverbs 9:10-12 Proverbs 20:20 1 Peter 3:10
Attitude: Some people expect little from life and nothing from God. They do not want to be disappointed. This is not faith. God wants you to walk in faith, trusting Him for direction and the answers that you need. If you are trusting God, your attitude will be one of submission to His will and confidence and joy, knowing that God is working things out for your good. (Romans 8:28) What about your children. They are never too young to learn about the greatness of our God and His faithfulness to His Word and His children.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 1 Peter 2:1 1 Peter 3:10
Friends – Good and Evil: Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24) When you have no other friend, you have Jesus. Be selective when choosing your friends. Your friends can either build you up in the faith or tear you down in the faith. Please God and not man.

1 Corinthians 15:33 2 Corinthians 6:14
Greed, Giving, Thankfulness: To understand what a successful life really is, you have to look at your life from God’s perspective. For if you gain the whole world, but lose your soul, what have you gained? (Matthew 16:26) There is no room for greed in a Christian's life. God expects us to have a thankful attitude and to cheerfully give to others. God blesses the giver and multiplies the gift to meet the need.

Malachi 3:8-12 1 Timothy 6:9-11 2 Corinthians 8:2-7
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Matthew 6:1-4, 21
Alcohol and Drugs: Anything that causes people to lose control of their minds and emotions is not of God. Anything that lowers our ability to say no to sin, is not of God. Pray to be led by God and trust Him to break any addictions in your life. Not only is your life at risk, by your example, so are the lives of your children. Turn to God, not mind altering substances.

Anger, Wrath: Anger is very destructive for you and your family. Did you know that anger does not promote the righteousness that God desires for you. (James 1:20) If anger rules your heart, your children are learning from you. If you believe Romans 8:28, you will trust God for His best in your life. What about when your children make you angry. There is a big difference between angry outbursts and firm discipline. Let your attitude be one of love, taking that firm stand based on God's Word.

Lying – (Truth, Honesty, Integrity, and Promises): Whether the problem is lying or stealing, God expects honesty and integrity from us. Our children learn to trust God by learning to trust us. Lying and stealing are sins. Sin separates us from God. It is very important that our children learn how important it is to tell the truth and deal honestly with others.

Laziness: Now, that is a word we don’t hear much today. And yet, laziness is robbing children and adults of their ability to have successful lives. Ours is not a gospel of do I feel like doing the right thing. God expects his people to be diligent workers, choosing what is right over what is easy.

Keeping and speaking faith during times of waiting builds character in our lives.
