There is Power In Jesus Name!
I borrowed the following from the Parenting Section of this website: Prayer and Your Children. If you have children and have not looked at this section, I encourage you to do so.
Why do Christians pray in the name of Jesus? In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." If you want your prayers to reach God, you will pray in the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus. There is also salvation, healing, deliverance, joy, strength and peace. The list goes on and on. If you want God's power working in your life, pray in the name of Jesus.
We sing in the name of Jesus because we love Him, we are thankful for His saving grace in our lives and there is power in His name. Music is just one vehicle by which we minister salvation, healing, deliverance, joy, strength, and peace. Is that the kind of ministry you desire? It is the kind of ministry God desires for you. In faith, we use His name knowing that God’s will and purpose are being made manifest in the lives of people. What an awesome God we serve!
Too many songs today do not mention the name of Jesus. They may refer to Jesus or God as He or You. Oh, the secular world is very pleased with this. Wow! A crossover song. And, not offensive! We cannot be satisfied with nice crossover songs. As Christians, we are called to minister in the name of Jesus. We must proclaim His name.
But, we like the songs. What are we going to do? I’m glad you asked that question. Add the name of Jesus to the song. When you do, the song will be obviously more powerful. Try it.
Examples:
"Breathe" by Vineyard UK
I, I’m desperate for You, Jesus.
I, I’m lost without You, my Lord.
Even good old favorites -
“Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” by Rick Founds
At the point where you sing: I’m so glad You came to save us.
Jesus, You came from heaven to earth,….
Once you start to notice the absence of the name of Jesus in a song, you will not be satisfied. Pray. God will show you how to perfectly place the name of Jesus in the song. Some people may not like the change. God likes it. God is the One we need to please.
Having been a public school teacher for more than thirty years, I am well aware of the removal of anything having to do with Jesus. The world wants to silence Christians. Let it not be so in the church.
